The City of Joliet has announced its second virtual community meeting for the I-80 Des Plaines River Bridge Community Plan, scheduled for Thursday, November 13th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The event will be held online via Zoom, and registration is available at tiny.cc/i80communitymeeting.
During the meeting, city representatives will present the draft vision for the community plan, discuss identified needs, and showcase proposed concepts for trails and other public spaces. These proposals are based on feedback collected from residents throughout the planning process.
"This is YOUR opportunity to help shape how the $3.5 million in IDOT mitigation funds will be used to benefit our community!" organizers stated.
The city has initiated outreach efforts by distributing flyers door-to-door and encourages residents to share information about the meeting with others in their neighborhood. Organizers emphasize that broad participation will help create a stronger community plan.
Residents with memories or stories related to places, people, or events significant to the area surrounding the I-80 Bridge are invited to participate in community interviews. Interested individuals can contact project staff at i80communityplan@joliet.gov or call (312) 588-6983.
Additional details about the project can be found on the city's website at https://www.joliet.gov/i80communityplan.
"We look forward to seeing you on November 13th!" organizers said.
