Families in Park Forest are preparing for the annual Safe Halloween event, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the DownTown area. The event is designed to provide a secure and enjoyable Halloween experience for local families, featuring trick-or-treating at downtown businesses, opportunities to explore public works and fire vehicles as part of the Touch A Truck activity, and food offerings from local vendors and the Park Forest Farmers Market.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said DownTown Property Manager Heather Jones. “Safe Halloween gives families a chance to celebrate together in a fun, safe, and family-friendly environment right in the heart of our community.”
Alongside traditional trick-or-treating, the event will include a Trunk or Treat segment for those who register their vehicles in advance. Jones noted that the variety of activities has contributed to the event’s growing popularity.
“Every October, we see hundreds of smiling faces — kids in costumes, parents with cameras, and local businesses all getting involved,” Jones said. “It’s the kind of event that really captures what Park Forest is all about: connection, community, and creativity.”
Jones also encouraged attendees to arrive early and dress up for the occasion. “It’s a wonderful way to make memories,” she said. “We can’t wait to see everyone’s spooky and silly outfits.”
Residents who wish to participate in the Trunk or Treat can register their vehicles online. The Village also announced that for those planning to trick-or-treat on Halloween itself, October 31, the official hours will be from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
