Mission 007 Mentorship, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting young adults, will open its doors in Downtown Park Forest on September 6. The grand opening is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at 316 Forest Blvd.
The organization was founded by Shauntia “Shante” Vasquez and will offer services to individuals between the ages of 16 and 25. The mentorship programs are designed to provide academic assistance, career advice, and personal development opportunities.
“I have had a passion for more than 20 years to work with young people,” Vasquez said. “As a teenager, I didn’t have someone to mentor me or guide me through decisions about school or life. I want to be that person for someone else — to give them the little push I didn’t receive.”
Vasquez has over two decades of experience in mentoring and counseling youth. She holds relevant certifications and has worked as a tutor, coach, and mentor in both academic and extracurricular settings. Her background also includes volunteering with church and community groups as well as working in operations at a Fortune 500 company for more than 23 years.
Mission 007 Mentorship plans to connect participants with mentors who can assist them in building confidence and developing key life skills. Vasquez noted that the program focuses on empathy, active listening, and personalized support within a secure environment.
“Whether it’s education, career advice, or personal growth, my goal is to equip young people with the tools and resources they need to succeed,” she stated.
Originally from Evergreen Park and now living in Hazel Crest, Vasquez chose Park Forest after being referred by another nonprofit organization operating in the area.
“I’m excited and grateful to God for giving me this opportunity,” Vasquez expressed. “This is not just a program — it’s a calling to help the next generation of leaders and changemakers.”
