The City of Joliet Board of Fire and Police Commissioners has scheduled a special meeting for Monday, August 25, 2025. The meeting will begin at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers on the second floor of Joliet City Hall, located at 150 West Jefferson Street.

Citizens who cannot attend in person are encouraged to send their comments by email ahead of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov.

The agenda includes roll call, opportunities for citizens to speak about items listed on the agenda, and a closed session regarding matters related to specific employees. The closed session will address issues such as appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of certain employees under Illinois law (5 ILCS 5/120/2(c)(1)).

One specific item on the agenda is the conclusion of the hearing of charges for Alfonso Sanchez.

There will also be a period for public comment on non-agenda items. Speakers are allowed up to four minutes each during both public comment sections. The commission notes that these periods are not intended for questions and answers; typically staff and commission members do not respond directly to comments. The City Clerk maintains copies of procedures for public speaking at meetings. Anyone engaging in conduct disruptive to the meeting may be called to order by the presiding officer and could lose their opportunity to speak.
