A section of Essington Road in Joliet will be closed from Galena Drive to Adesso Lane starting August 26, 2025. The closure is necessary for water main improvements at the Com Ed crossings as part of a larger infrastructure project.
According to city officials, the work is expected to last until September 2, 2025. During this period, a detour will be set up and drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes.
"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone," city officials stated.
More information about the project is available on the City of Joliet’s construction zone webpage at www.joliet.gov/construction-zone. Residents with questions can contact the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.
