Special Olympics torch run progresses from Crete to Monee

On June 18, 2025, participants in the Illinois Torch Run carried the Flame of Hope through Crete, Beecher, and Monee. The event was part of a 1,500-mile journey to support Special Olympics. Those involved included law enforcement officers, school staff, Special Olympics athletes, volunteers, and supporters. The torch was on its way south toward the State Finals in Normal, Illinois, scheduled for June 20-22.
