Crete joins Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois

Crete is set to participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The event is scheduled to begin around 10:00 AM. The torch will be handed over from Steger Police Department just north of the viaduct on Chicago Road at Richton. It will then proceed south through Crete, concluding at Smokey Joe’s.

Participants and spectators are advised that the timing might change depending on how quickly the torch progresses through its previous leg. Updates regarding any changes will be available on Crete Police Department's and Chief Pieritz's Facebook pages.

The Torch Run aims to support Special Olympics Illinois and its athletes. Community members are encouraged to spread the word and join with friends and family to support this cause.
