The City of Joliet Committee on Citizens with Disabilities is set to convene on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 1:30 PM. The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers, located on the Second Floor of Joliet City Hall at 150 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois.

Attendees who cannot be present at the meeting have the option to email their comments in advance to publiccomment@joliet.gov.

The agenda begins with a roll call and the approval of previous meeting minutes. This will be followed by a segment titled "Citizens to be Heard on Agenda Items," where participants can voice their opinions on specific agenda points. Individuals are allotted a maximum of four minutes each for comments. Notably, this segment is not designed for back-and-forth dialogue, and neither the staff nor the Committee members typically respond to public statements. A set of public speaking procedures is available with the City Clerk, and any disruptions may lead to the speaker being called to order by the Presiding Officer.

The meeting will delve into discussions on various topics, including transportation, ADA compliance, disability hiring, upcoming events, and communication strategies. Elizabeth Gonzalez from PACE Bus Service is scheduled to discuss disability-informed transportation with an emphasis on routes, safety, and reliability. Other discussions will cover federal changes to ADA compliance, disability hiring within local agencies, updates on the July Disability Fair, and the Communications Department pamphlet.

A public comment section is also on the agenda for non-agenda items, again allowing four minutes per speaker without expecting answers from Committee members or staff.

The meeting location is accessible, and those requiring reasonable accommodation are encouraged to contact the City Clerk's Office at 150 West Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois 60432, or call (815) 724-3780.
