Joliet, IL - Changes in road closures are on the horizon as part of the downtown Chicago Street Streetscape project in Joliet. Starting on Monday, April 14, 2025, traffic control and safety measures will adjust in two stages, impacting Clinton Street from Ottawa Street to Scott Street.

The first stage involves closing Clinton Street from Ottawa Street to Scott Street for two days as the construction progresses through the Chicago Street intersection. During this time, Chicago Street will also be closed between Van Buren Street and Clinton Street on Monday and Tuesday, pending the reopening of the intersection to traffic.

In the second stage, once the Chicago Street intersection is accessible again, Clinton Street will be closed from Chicago Street to Scott Street for approximately one week. While local traffic will be able to exit from the Scott Street parking deck and access the private parking lot north of Clinton Street, no through traffic will be permitted.

The existing closure of Chicago Street from Clinton Street to Cass Street will persist as ComEd continues vault reconstruction in the area.

Construction work restricts daytime parking on Chicago Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. To accommodate, use of the City Center parking deck is advised. Safety fencing and construction barrels will guide safe pedestrian routes, and businesses will remain open with maintained access.

Further details will be released as construction progresses.
