City of Braidwood City Council met Nov. 26.

Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on November 26, 2024 was called to order at 7:00 p.m., by Mayor Hart in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.
Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Hart requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered "Here" or "Present";
Elected Officials;
Present: Commissioner Earling, Commissioner Wietting, Commissioner Wilczak and Mayor Hart
Absent: Commissioner Walsh
Appointed Officials:
Present: City Clerk Weaver, City Administrator Altiery, Chief Goodwin, and City Attorney Wellner
Absent: City Engineer Sean Kelly
Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.
Public Comment: No public Comment.
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to approve meeting minutes from the November 12, 2024 Regular Council Meeting. Motion carried with 4 ayes: 0 nays; 0 Abstain (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart)
Mayor's Report: Mayor Hart: Wish everyone a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Administrator Report: Admin. Altiery: If anyone has a ditch they want filled in contact City Hall for a form. The city will provide the labor the homeowner needs to pay for the material.
Our crews are out doing street repairs and widening to prepare for next year's street improvements.
Surf Wireless is out doing work on Michell St. for a few more days.
City Clerk Report: City Clerk Weaver: December 7 we will have the 14th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade after our Tree Lighting Ceremony across from City Hall around 5pm.
Reminder to winterize your home to avoid any frozen pipes or water meters which will cost $500 to replace and if it occurs after hours there is also a $75 charge.
There is a free class being offered here at city on how to identify a public threat on Monday, December 9 from 5:30-7:30pm. There is also a women's personal safety workshop on Tuesday, December 3 from 3- 5pm. There a links on our website to sign up.
FOIA report from November 12 to November 25 were 5 FOIA's requesting 17 different pieces of information and has taken staff 4 manhours to complete.
Engineer Report: Admin. Altiery: PF Ferro was out doing the final rolling and gravel work on the side of the new roads.
Mastodon received their last IDNR permit for them to start their underground engineering.
City Attorney Report: No Report.
Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Earling made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to approve the Payment of Bills, in the amount of $197,298.00 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated November 26, 2024. Motion carried with 4 ayes: 0 nays. (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart)
Commissioner Earling then made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Wilczak, to Approve Payroll Expenses, in the amount of $106,118.43 as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated November 22, 2024. Motion carried with 4 ayes; 0 nays. (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart).
Commissioner Earling made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wilczak, to approve Ordinance 24-47 Authorizing the City of Braidwood to enter into and the Commissioner of Accounts and Finance to execute a letter to acquire professional accounting services provided by John Kasperek Co. for the Fiscal Year ending April 30,2025. Motion carried with 4 ayes; 0 nays. (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart).
Streets & Public Improvement Report: Admin. Altiery: I have been driving around with Comm. Walsh seeing which streets need some TLC for some projects next year.
Public Property Report: Commissioner Wietting: We have been looking into how much water our wells pump out. Our water crew has found some leaks and fixed them which brough down our usage from 800,000 to 600,00 a day. We have reached out to company to get us a quote for leak detection to fix any other problems there may be.
Public Health & Safety Report: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Earling, to approve Ordinance 24-46 Authorizing the Chief of Police to Enter into and Execute Reciprocal Reporting of Reporting of Criminal Offenses by students' agreement between the Braidwood Police Department and the Office of Grundy County State's Attorneys. Motion carried with 4 ayes; 0 nays. (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart).
Commissioner Wilczak then made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to approve Ordinance 24-48 waiving Competitive bidding and approving the purchase of a 2024 Ford F150 Police Responder from Sutton Ford for use by the City of Braidwood Police Department. Motion carried with 4 ayes; 0 nays. (Earling, Wietting, Wilczak and Hart).
The Braidwood Police Department Press Release for November 11, 2024 to November 25, 2024 had total number of calls for service 341, case reports 20, total subjects arrested 7, total arrest charges 9, total number of traffic stops 156, citations 31, written warnings 70, semi-truck violations 3, total number of P- tickets 7.
With the colder weather every one stays safe and warm especially during their holiday travels.
Planning & Zoning Report: Liz Dixon: At the last zoning meeting I asked if a letter can be sent to Comet Storage to use Division St and not Hickory St as the engineer requested, did the letter get sent? Admin. Altiery: I spoke with him the next day. A letter was not written up but I did talk to him.
Next meeting is Monday, December 2, 2024 at 7pm.
Old Business: None.
New Business: Mayor Hart: Wanted to bring attention to the Christmas tree on display in council by the Police Department that has a tribute to all the officers nationwide who have passed in 2024. As of right now there are 105 but need to add 4 more. It's a beautiful and sad tribute.
Comm. Wilczak: Thanks for everyone who decorated. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Don't forget the Christmas Tree lighting and festivities at the Fire Station afterward.
