MaryEllyn Peterek of Romeoville Dies of ALS Complications

MaryEllyn Peterek, 76, passed away on October 29, 2024, at Joliet Area Community Hospice after battling ALS for two years. She leaves behind her husband Dan Peterek, daughter Tricia, and numerous relatives.

MaryEllyn, known to her family as a hero, had a history of caregiving and resilience. She was born in Chicago in 1948 and met her husband at a young age. She worked for the Diocese of Joliet for over 25 years and dedicated her time to her faith community. She was fond of Irish culture, music, and spending time with family.

Visitation for MaryEllyn will be held on November 7, 2024, at Anderson-Goodale Memorial Homes, with a funeral Mass on November 8, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Romeoville. Donations can be made to the Les Turner ALS Foundation in her memory.
