Retired Metallurgist and U.S. Army Veteran Gerard A. Kiely Passes Away at 81

Gerard "Jerry" A. Kiely, age 81, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Alden Estates of Naperville. Survived by son Hector Kiely, grandson Gabe, and Josh, brother Thomas Kiely, nephew Michael Kiely, and niece Jennifer LeFebvre. Preceded in death by parents Gerard and Emma Kiely.

A graduate of Laraway Grade School, Joliet Township High School, and Joliet Junior College, Kiely served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked as a metallurgist at Caterpillar for 31 years before retiring in 1993. Kiely was known for his love of reading, Notre Dame Football, and family time. Visitation on October 16, 2024, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, with prayers and military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
