FOIA Request Sent to City of Crest Hill Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Crest Hill Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Will County Gazette have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to the City of Crest Hill and pertains specifically to unpaid parking violations.

We are seeking a list of all parking violations that remain unpaid within the city's jurisdiction. The requested details include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due from each individual.

As an integral part of our mission as a media organization, we strive to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers. Accessing these public records is crucial in fulfilling these professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

Our aim is not only to inform but also to ensure that everyone is held accountable for their actions - even something as seemingly minor as unpaid parking tickets can have significant implications for local governance and community safety. We will continue to keep you updated on this matter as more information becomes available.
