George J. Renwick Jr., 73, Devoted Family Man Fondly Remembered for Work Ethic and Love of Learning

Frankfort, IL - George J. Renwick Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. A devoted husband of 56 years, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, George will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife Charlee, daughters Shannan (Jim, Jr.) Uteg and Tammy (Tom) Byers, grandchildren Jimmy III, Krystal, Christina, James, and Michael, siblings Gordon, Roseann, and David, brother-in-law Lyndal, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Pearl, brother Bruce, and nephew Marcus.

Born in Chicago and raised in Frankfort, George's strong work ethic and knack for problem-solving were evident from a young age. From his beginnings on local farms to his successful career in construction and petroleum industries, George was known for his ability to tackle challenges with a determined attitude. A lifelong learner, he transitioned to the petroleum industry where he thrived. After retirement, George cherished time spent with his grandchildren, proudly supporting them in their endeavors. Whether sharing his knowledge, fixing things in the garage, or lending a hand, his wisdom and skills were always generously shared.

In honor of George, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in Frankfort from 4pm-8pm and continue the next day with a visitation from 10am until time of service at 12pm. George will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort.
