Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council Tuesday, June 25, 2024 Braidwood City Hall 141 W. Main St., Braidwood, IL 60408
Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on June 25, 2024 was called to order at 7:00 p.m., by Mayor Hart in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.
Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Hart requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered "Here" or "Present";
Elected Officials;
Present: Commissioner Money, Commissioner Wietting, Commissioner Walsh, Commissioner Wilczak and Mayor Hart
Absent:
Appointed Officials:
Present: Chief Goodwin Attorney Wellner
Absent: City Clerk Weaver, City Administrator Altiery, and City Engineer Sean Kelly
Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.
Public Comment: Timothy O'Brien; 1021 W. Cermak: Complaint about speeding on Hickory Street and Cermak. Suggesting maybe a stop sign is needed. This is a safety concern with more houses and children now in the area.
Bob Ellis; 345 N Hickory St: Concerned about the rezoning of 225 N. Hickory from commercial to Industrial. Industrial can bring in anything and I am limited to what I want to see put there since I live right next door.
Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to approve meeting minutes from the June 11, 2024 Regular Council Meeting. Motion carried with 4 ayes: 0 nays; 1 Abstain (Wietting, Walsh, Wilczak and Hart)

City Clerk Report: Absent
Engineer Report: Absent
City Attorney Report: None
Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Money made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to approve the Payment of Bills, in the amount of $95,454.79 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated June 25, 2024. Motion carried with 5 ayes: 0 nays. (Money, Wietting, Walsh, Wilczak and Hart) Commissioner Money then made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Wilczak, to Approve Payroll Expenses, in the amount of $113,056.60 as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated June 21, 2024. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Money, Wietting, Walsh, Wilczak and Hart).
Streets & Public Improvement Report: None
Public Property Report: None
Public Health & Safety Report: Commissioner Wilczak recognized School Resource Officer Vern Reed as runner up for the Prestigious Illinois High School Resource Officer of the Year. Officer Reed has served us at Reed-Custer since 2014. Many comments were mentioned on what an asset Officer Reed is to our school and kids.
Braidwood Police Department Press Release from June 10, 2024 to June 24, 2024: total number of calls for service 220, case reports 21, total subjects arrested 8, total arrest charges 11, total number of traffic stops 51, citations 19, written warnings 29, semi-truck violations 9, and total number of P-Tickets 2.
Planning & Zoning Report: George Kocek: Planning and Zoning had a meeting on June 17, 2024 but that Ordinance is requesting to be Tabled at this time. The next zoning meeting will be Monday, July 1, 2024 at 7pm in Council Chambers.
Old Business: Comm. Wilczak: The Citizens Police Academy has ended and believe this is a good program to learn about policing.
Comm. Walsh: The program was very eye-opening and it was very informative. Thank you, Chief Goodwin.
New Business: None
Adjournment: Commissioner Wilczak made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Wietting, to adjourn the June 25, 2024 regular meeting of the Braidwood City Council. Motion carried with 5 ayes: 0 nays. (Money, Wietting, Walsh, Wilczak and Hart) The next regular meeting of the Council will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 7:00pm
