NICOR crews are proceeding with the installation of a new 6-inch gas main along the south side of Theodore Street, stretching from west of Wesmere Parkway to 800 feet east of River Road. This work, which involves placing new mains and connecting them to the existing system, is expected to continue for several more weeks.
The project will necessitate daily closures of the eastbound traffic lane to allow utility crews to stage equipment and vehicles and create a safe work zone. Additionally, River Road will be restricted to one lane in both northbound and southbound directions between 7 AM and 3 PM until the completion of the work.
The sidewalk on the south side of Theodore Street, from Troy Middle School east to Green Trails Drive, as well as the sidewalk on the west side of River Road at Theodore Street, will be closed to pedestrians. Pedestrians are advised to use the north side of the street if necessary.
Weather permitting, ComEd will complete their relocation of aerial wires this coming week along the north side of Theodore Street. Comcast cable will also be relocating both aerial and buried facilities throughout the work zone. Daytime closures of the westbound lane can be expected while ComEd removes old poles from north parkway areas.
Residents are urged to watch for and obey flaggers as their work moves within this zone daily.
