Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting can email comments in advance of the meeting to publiccomment@joliet.gov.

The City of Joliet Board of Fire and Police Commissioners convened on June 26, 2024. The agenda included a call to order, roll call, and approval of minutes from previous meetings held on May 13, 2024, and April 2, 2024.

During the "Citizens to be Heard on Agenda Items" section, individuals were given up to four minutes each to speak about agenda items. It was noted that this period is not for questions and answers; staff and Commission members typically do not respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures available. Speakers engaging in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting will be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may lose their opportunity to speak.

The meeting proceeded with the Secretary’s Report followed by discussions under "New or Old Business," which were not intended for final action or recommendation. A closed session was held for hiring nineteen police officers.

Public comment was again welcomed before adjournment. The meeting location was accessible, and reasonable accommodations could be arranged through Christa M. Desiderio, City Clerk.
