"Every citizen has a chance to make a difference," said jennifer Monson for IL Senate, according to Facebook.
In her Facebook post, Monson shared content from the Will County Young Republicans Organization. According to the organization, an election judge "plays a critical role in our democratic process. The qualifications for an election judge include U.S. citizenship, being an actively registered voter in Will County, and casting a ballot in a primary election for the party the judge will represent. They must speak, read, and write in English and attend an election judge training class. Candidates and precinct committee people cannot serve as election judges.
The graphic from the Will County Young Republicans Organization also outlines the qualifications and responsibilities of poll watchers. According to the post, candidates, political parties, civic organizations, and groups that support or oppose a referendum are responsible for appointing poll watchers.
Poll watchers are allowed to be present on election day when the polling place opens at 5 a.m., between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. when the polling place is open, and when the polling place closes at 7 p.m. They are to observe the election process but are not allowed to interfere with voting or touch election supplies or materials.
The post further encourages individuals interested in being an election judge or poll watcher or volunteering in another capacity to contact the Will County GOP.
Monson is the Republican nominee for Illinois State Senate District 43. She ran an uncontested race in the primary election. According to her campaign website, she is an educator and school board member who wants to "work to maintain citizen rights and their ability to exercise their God-given rights to exist and live freely without unconstitutional government overreach."
