Village of Channahon Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. Call to Order

II. Roll Call

Commissioners Hoppe, Lair, and Myers present. Chief Casey and DC Bogart present as guests.

III. Public Forum (Citizen Comments).

None.

IV. Approval of Meeting Minutes from October 18, 2023

All present reviewed minutes from the October 18, 2023, meeting. With no corrections, additions, or deletions noted Chairman Hoppe asked for a motion to approve the regular meeting minutes. Commissioner Myers made the motion, second by Secretary Lair. Voice vote, motion passed 3-0.

V. Communications

All present reviewed an email reminder from Chairman Hoppe requesting attendance for the May 3-4, 2024 IFPCA Seminar at The Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, IL. Chairman Hoppe, Commissioner Myers and DC Bogart confirmed they will attend. Secretary Lair provided he will need to confirm his work schedule prior to committing. DC Bogart was tasked with registration and reservations for attendees.

VI. Old Business:

Commission shirts

Chief Casey provided all Commission members with Channahon Board of Fire and Police Commission shirts.

IX. Closed Meeting: Appointment, Employment, Dismissal, Compensation, Discipline and Performance of an Employee of the Village of Channahon

Motion to enter Closed Meeting at 7:26 PM made by Commissioner Myers, second by Secretary Lair. Voice vote, motion passed 3-0. General discussion and review of promotional testing conducted in 2021. Motion to leave Closed Meeting and return to the Special Meeting at 7:36 PM made by Secretary Lair, second by Commissioner Myers. Voice vote, motion passed 3-0.

Motion to recommend Officer Andrew McClellan for promotion to Sergeant and present recommendation to the Village Board at the January 15, 2024 regular board meeting made by Commissioner Myers, second by Secretary Lair. Voice vote, motion passed 3-0.

X. Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 7:44 PM made by Commissioner Myers, second by Secretary Lair. Voice vote, motion passed 3-0.
