Work on the Joliet – Ottawa Street Water Main Improvement Project in the City of Joliet is set to continue progressing. Starting on December 19, 2023, water main installation work will commence on Joliet Street between Jackson Street and Cass Street.
To facilitate this project, a significant amount of traffic control measures will be put in place. As a result, a full road closure will be implemented on Joliet Street between Cass Street and Jackson Street, beginning on December 19, 2023. The anticipated completion date for this phase of work is April 1, 2024.
Drivers should be prepared for potential long delays and are advised to follow the posted detour routes. Furthermore, drivers are reminded to exercise caution and reduce speed when driving near or through work zones. It is essential to obey the posted speed limits and signage and to be mindful of workers or flaggers. Additionally, the use of cell phones or texting while driving in the vicinity of the work zone is strictly prohibited for the safety of both workers and drivers.
