The Village of Tinley Park has released an updated map detailing the locations of its Hometown Hero Banners. The initiative, which honors local veterans and active-duty service members, displays banners throughout the village as a tribute to their service.

The list of names included in this year’s display features numerous individuals who have served in various capacities. Some of the honorees include Aaron Toppen, Terrence Miller, Santino Lettieri, Marvin Weitendorf, Winfield Wendt, Herbert Binner, Robert Merrick, Richard Everett, Walter Richmond, Robert Foster, Michael Brady, George Skrobuton, David McCormick and Frederick Guendling.

"The program is a wonderful way to recognize those who have served our country," said one village official. The banners are prominently displayed on street poles throughout Tinley Park and serve as a visual reminder of the sacrifices made by these individuals.

In addition to honoring veterans from past conflicts such as World War II and Vietnam, the program also recognizes more recent service members. Notable names include Norman Suelflow, Philip Victor and Joost Sluis among others.

Families wishing to participate in future banner programs can contact the Village Hall for more information about eligibility and application procedures.
