Village Board - Workshop Meeting Meeting Minutes November 1, 2023

1. CALL TO ORDER-Roll Call

Present 6 - Trustee Dave Richards, Trustee Brian A. Clancy Sr., Mayor John Noak, Trustee Ken Griffin, Trustee Linda Palmiter, and Trustee Lourdes Aguirre

Absent 1 - Trustee Jose Chavez

Harvest Saturday

Mayor Noak invited Christine Braasch up to speak on the upcoming Harvest Saturday Event. Mrs. Braasch gave a brief overview of the event and how to get involved.

23-3229 Finley Forever Foundation Introduction and Viewing of Donated Fire Engine from Romeoville Fire Department

Deputy Fire Chief Bill Murray explained that last year the Romeoville Fire Department donated a Fire Engine and Ambulance to the Finley Forever Foundation. Deputy Chief Murray introduced Dan and Lacey Bracken who lost their daughter Finley to cancer in 2020 and who inspired this foundation.

Mr. and Mrs. Bracken explained their charitable organization and how they provide hope, support, and financial assistance to local Chicago area families affected by cancer.

Mayor Noak commented that they are heroes.

ORD23-1866 An Ordinance Approving a Special Use Permit for a Cannabis Dispensing Organization for Midwest Compassion Center LLC (Verilife) at 412 Weber Road

Josh Potter, Community Development Director, explained that Verilife is proposing to relocate their medical and recreational-use dispensary from their existing site at 1335 Lakeside Drive, Unit 4 to 412 Weber Road. Mr. Potter explained the proposed floor plan, security, and parking. Planning and Zoning held a public hearing on October 10th and recommended approval.

Mayor Noak commented that Verilife has been in Romeoville since the beginning. He asked the Police Chief if he had any concerns. Chief said no.

A representative from Midwest Compassion Center (dba Verilife) made brief comments to the Mayor and Board members.

23-3230 A Presentation of the 2022-2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report

Anthony Cervini from Sikich LLP made a short presentation regarding the Village's FY 2022-2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and audit results.

Financial Director, Christi Jacobson, commented that she was happy with the audit this year and the speed it was completed.

Village Manager, Dawn Caldwell, thanked the finance team for their hard work. They not only received an award for Financial Reporting but also the Budget Award this year.

ORD23-1870 An Ordinance Approving a Minor Change to the Planned Unit Development - General Plan for Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville

Mr. Potter explained that the Mercedes-Benz of Romeoville was approved in October 2021 and the dealership license has since been sold to the Fields Auto Group. As a result of the change of ownership, minor changes to the approved plans have been made. The updated plans provide a slightly smaller building footprint and provide for a phased approach to developing the land south of the creek.

4. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Trustee Griffin, seconded by Trustee Clancy, that this Meeting be Adjourned at 6:31 PM. The motion carried by a unanimous vote.
