City of Joliet Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met July 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

ROLL CALL

Present: Quinn Adamowski, Brad Price, John Lukancic and John Stefanski

Absent: Janean Jackson

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS - None

JOLIET FIRE DEPARTMENT APPROVAL FOR ONE PROMOTION

Lieutenant Jeffrey Nagra to Captain Nagra

A motion was made by Lukancic, seconded by Stefanski, to promote Lieutenant Jeffrey Nagra to Captain Nagra. Four unanimous yes votes.

CLOSED SESSION

Stefanski voted to move to closed session, seconded by Lukancic, unanimous vote to enter closed session.

APPOINTMENT OF JOLIET POLICE OFFICERS

#51 Mykayla Pacewic Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes yes

#52 Carlitos McTizic Lukancic voted to approve, Stefanski seconded. Lukancic, Adamowski and Stefanski voted no, Price voted yes

#53 Jessie Salazar Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes yes

#54 Vince Ochoa Withdrew 5-6-23

#55 Natalie Villalobos Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes no

#56 Alexander Palmer Withdrew due to military deployment

#57 Alan Urbano Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes yes

#58 Olvera, Malinda Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes yes

#59 Soukup, Matthew Stefanski voted to approve, Lukancic seconded, 4 unanimous votes no

#60 Drin Bajrami Withdrew 6-1-23

DISCUSSION AND VOTE TO ADD LATERAL HIRING TO THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR JOLIET POLICE DEPARTMENT

Joliet Police Command Staff asked the Board to approve the addition of a Lateral List for the next Police Hiring List. They stressed the difficulty in current times to appeal to the numbers needed for hiring within the Police Department. Also discussed the difficulty synchronizing the limited Academy dates with vacancies. 

Lukancic and Price voted no 

Adamowski and Stefanski voted yes
