Q1 2022 Recap: 8 parolees from Will County convicted of crimes involving alcohol set for release

There were eight offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol living in Will County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows seven men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol was 40. The youngest parolee was a 31-year-old woman sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced in 2022.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Enriqueta Smith. She was convicted in 2019 when she was 28 years old. She is now 31.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
