City of Joliet Historic Preservation Commission met Oct. 26.

CALL TO ORDER

APPROVAL OF MINUTES  

April 27, 2022 Joliet Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes  

July 27, 2022 Joliet Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes  

A motion was made by Sharon Merwin, seconded by Kailee Lowry, to table the April 27, 2022 and July 27, 2022 Joliet Historic Preservation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: 

Aye: Heinemann, Johnson, Lowry, Merwin, Spiegel and Wright 

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS 

This section is for anyone wanting to speak regarding agenda items and are allowed a maximum of 4 minutes. It is not a question and answer period and staff, and the Commission members do not generally respond to public comments. The City Clerk has a copy of the public speaking procedures; please note, speakers who engage in conduct injurious to the harmony of the meeting shall be called to order by the Presiding Officer and may forfeit the opportunity to speak. 

COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS  

a. Staff Report 

Ms. Bernhard gave the staff report at the 6:00 p.m. Committee-of-the-Whole meeting. 

b. Committee of the Whole (COW) 

There was no discussion on this subject. 

OLD BUSINESS  

NEW BUSINESS    

a. Designated Historic Properties Update – Review and Discussion of Summary Report  

Ms. Bernhard introduced Mr. Douglas Carre from the Lakota Group, Mr. Carre gave a presentation on the Designated Historic Properties report findings. 

Mr. Carre and the commissioners discussed the report.  

b. Downtown Joliet National Register Historic District Update  

Ms. Bernhard went over a presentation for the Downtown Joliet National Historic District. 

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS  

Ms. Merwin announced that she went to the States Preservation Conference. Ms. Johnson said that she is working on the landmark nomination for 410 Whitney Avenue. Ms. Johnson asked Ms. Bernhard to mail out a letter of interest to the new owners of 412 Western Avenue.

Ms. Karen Warren spoke about the Joliet drawbridges.

A motion was made by Steven Wright, seconded by Kailee Lowry, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried by the following vote:
