The Romeoville City Council recently reviewed three development plans for the area.

During its Nov. 15 Village board meeting, the council reviewed a proposal for a facility plan for 33 E. Belmont Road involving a 6,594-square-foot building for truck repair. The building and its use are all permitted by zoning requirements. The building will have six bays and room for an office, and all of the bays will face away from the road. The Planning and Zoning Committee had no issues with the plan, and the project was given permission to proceed.

"I mean, this is exactly the type of usage and building that's supposed to go in this area," Romeoville Mayor John Noak said in the meeting. "It's what it was intended for. I think as long as those bays aren't facing toward the residential, I think that's the key component. So barring Mr. Potter and his very capable team's review letters, I think that's about it. Unless anybody else has anything major, this is a pretty straightforward one."

The second project was a consolidation of two plots on Forestwood Drive to create a 7,200-square-foot repair facility. The site and its use are within requirements for the plot's zoning code, and the building would have all doors facing away from the street. They did ask for one code exemption for where on the plot the building will face, and the Planning and Zoning Committee gave them a few small opinions in their review letter. Pending those changes, the mayor gave approval for the project to continue in the process.

The final project was from Viga Design, which sells custom vehicle graphics, and they are looking to expand their facility into vacant lots on the north side of their property. It would be a 7,321-square-foot addition with a code exemption required for additional parking spaces. There are a few additional fees associated with this project, but the planning committee has been working with the company and is looking forward to seeing the project progress.
