Exciting things are happening throughout the Beecher school district.

The Beecher school district board discussed some of the positive things that were happening throughout the school district at an Oct. 12 Board of Education meeting.

A couple of the boys' golf players were introduced because of their accomplishments in making it to state. Their coach acknowledged that this wouldn’t be the last time this group of boys made this accomplishment as they are quite skilled. They had a trio make third place at the state finals: Benny, Jack, and Brendan. This was the team’s eighth regional victory in the last 11 years.

Mike Meyer, principal of the high school, gave a report on recent successes in the school. He highlighted how well their homecoming dance had gone this year, citing no complaints from students and a lot of compliments. They loved the entertainment and asked for the DJ to come back every single year, saying it was the best dance ever.

Dr. Kwansy, the principal of the junior high school, spoke about how well their student council was going this year. They had previously had very low turnout or interest in student council, so this year they are running it during study hall hours to allow students to still participate in after-school activities alongside the student council. They have 39 members this year, triple last year’s numbers, and the students are full of great ideas for celebrations and events coming up this school year.

"So we're looking forward to that and they're going to have a lot of different teambuilding activities. So, you know, we're excited to see what the kids have to say about it and then hopefully they'll build up that excitement for next year," Kwasny said during the meeting.
