Darren Bailey, the GOP gubernatorial candidate for the State of Illinois, stopped by 'Freedom for Illinois' We the Free Fest in Aurora.
Bailey pledged to defend freedom for Illinoisans across the state.
"Our freedoms are under assault", the current Republican Illinois State Senator from Xenia proclaimed. "We need leaders who will fight for our Constitutional rights and not waver in the defense of liberty."
Bailey also told the crowd about the important role every elected official is expected to play in serving the public.
"Every elected official takes an oath of office to support our Constitution," Bailey, who is set to challenge incumbent Governor J.B. Pritzker in the upcoming November midterm elections, said. "I take that oath seriously as a State Senator and I will take it seriously as Governor."
Republicans are riding on the promise of the so-called “Red Wave” that would allow GOP candidates to win many seats in the coming elections to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives and some key states across the country. This comes on the heels of the declining popularity of President Joe Biden and the public’s increasing support for conservatives.
Bailey made the appearance at the event that also featured freedom-loving musical artists such as Jimmy Levy, The Marine Rapper, D. Cure, Zoe Levy, Gregory Hyde Band, DJ Akib and Amethyst-Jewel.
Topher, a conservative hip-hop artist and TikTok star, headlined the event. According to the We the Free Fest event website, "Topher was born and raised in Kilmichael, MS and started writing and performing music as early as ten years old. He credits his musical aptitude to his father, Willie 'Little Willie Farmer' Farmer, who himself is a veteran blues artist and musician. Topher entered politics in November 2019 after discovering his passion for empowerment and fostering growth in society (and that) transitioning into politics has been a remarkable journey for him because it allows him to serve the people."
The sold-out event took place at The Piazza located at 85 Executive Dr. In Aurora. Tickets ranged from $25 to $200.
