CHICAGO LEADERS MUST REIGN IN CARJACKERS TO KEEP COMMUNITIES SAFE 

(Chicago, IL, June 26, 2022) Carjackers from Cook County are now affecting Will County and the residents of Will County are understandably concerned. Some reforms to law enforcement are hurting working families. The decision to continue to loosen enforcement for non-felony offenses, and public safety policies in the city are bleeding into Will County as a result. Chicago policy makers affect every county around them, and many constituents believe that this should be considered when implementing reforms.

From a gun being pointed at a mother and her children to the tragic passing of a Vietnam veteran, carjackings have deeply wounded several communities. Pastor Chris Butler, congressional candidate for the 1st District of Illinois, is well positioned to strengthen the public safety infrastructure. Butler has been endorsed by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police and is committed to family-centered legislation. “If we are going to get serious about helping families flourish, then we have to be serious about public safety and law enforcement. This issue impacts everyone in the region and we all have to work together to combat crime and build peaceful communities.” Says Butler.  

Pastor Butler, whose name was drawn for the top spot on the IL-1 primary ballot, has been connecting with voters and communities since March of 2021. Pastor Butler’s background highlights his track record of uplifting families and small businesses in his district. His platform emphasizes his commitment to supporting grassroots entrepreneurship and local economic development. The Senior Pastor of the Chicago Embassy Church Network, he has launched various initiatives serving at the local, state, and national level. For example, Pastor Butler worked in education reform as Deputy Campaign Manager for A+ Illinois and as Advocacy Director for New Schools for Chicago. Pastor Butler also co-founded the Chicago Peace Campaign to reimagine public safety, as well as the AND (&) Campaign, a nonprofit organization which promotes civic engagement nationwide. He recently co-authored the award-winning book Compassion & Conviction.
