Plainfield – The Plainfield South High School music department is participating in two unique performances in March and April.
The ChoralWinds ensemble will host its annual concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, in the school’s auditorium, 7800 W. Caton Farm Road.

The public concert is free.

The ChoralWinds includes members of the PSHS concert choir and wind ensemble. It will premiere two pieces at the concert, said Jerrod Cook, PSHS Director of Bands.

The first “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” includes text from the Maya Angelou’s poem. It was written by Ken Myers who is the grandfather of two PSHS band alumni members, Michael (Class of 2019) and Brian Endres (Class of 2016).

PSHS commissioned the second work, “Working Together” to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the school’s opening, Cook said. It was written by James Stephenson.

Then, in April, the PSHS wind ensemble will perform with the new adult community band The Naperville Winds.

The concert is 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Wenz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

Admission is $10 for main floor, $15 for balcony. Students can get a $5 discount per ticket with the code StudentTNW when checking out.
