These appointments also help to fill the top-level district administrative team for current Associate Superintendent Dr. Glenn Wood. He will serve next year as superintendent of schools, replacing Dr. Lane Abrell, who is retiring in June.
“I am very excited about these individuals serving in these new roles on our district administrative team,” Wood said.
“We are losing a tremendous amount of talent and experience through retirement, but I am confident these four employees will do a great job helping us continue to serve our students, schools, and families very well,” Wood said.
Dr. Paula Sereleas, director for middle school curriculum and instruction will serve as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She replaces current Associate Superintendent Dr. Glenn Wood, who will serve next year as Superintendent of Schools.
Sereleas joined District 202 in her current role in 2014. She started her education career in 1996 as a social studies teacher at Lincoln Way East High School.
She grew up in England and came to the United States at age 17 on an athletic scholarship, running Division I Track and Cross Country for DePaul University.
Ryan came to District 202 in 2006 as a network administrator and took the MIS role in 2012. He was named assistant director in 2019.
As well, the Board approved naming current Assistant Director for Maintenance and Grounds Curtis Alsip as the new Director of Facilities. He will replace Paul Gonzalez, who is also retiring in June.
Alsip first worked for District 202 from 1999-2013 as a maintenance specialist.
He then served several maintenance and operations roles in the Joliet High School and LaGrange school districts from 2013-2021, when he returned to District 202 in his current role.
Finally, the Board approved appointing district Special Education Administrator Julie Anderson as the new director for elementary student services. She will replace Cheril Phillips, who is also retiring in June.
Anderson worked as the district speech language pathologist supervisor from 2018-2020.
She also served as the speech language pathologist for Lakewood Falls and Liberty elementary schools and Plainfield Academy from 2009-2018 and worked in the private sector for several years.
