The inaugural Witchcraft and Wizardry Clued Upp Charity Event held on June 12th sponsored by Friends for Charitable Giving and the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce was a huge success. Even though it was a hot day, over 200 people participated in the exciting interactive mystery game and had an enjoyable time pursuing clues throughout historic downtown Plainfield.
Thanks to the support of area businesses and individuals, Witchcraft and Wizardry raised over $30,000, net of expenses, which will benefit four local charities. Green Harvest Food Pantry, Bags of Hope, Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry and the Plainfield Lions Club (for their Christmas Food Basket program) will each receive a check for $7,500 to help alleviate food insecurity throughout our community.
The Witchcraft and Wizardry Charity Event was the brainchild of Michelle Smith who along with Tasha Marsaglia co-chaired the event. “Since there was no Giving Gala this past February due to the pandemic, we decided to do some type of fund raiser that could be done outdoors regardless of COVID restrictions” stated Michelle. Given its success it is anticipated that it will become an annual charitable event.
Regarding the Giving Gala, which is the primary fund raiser of Friends for Charitable Giving, plans are underway for the 2021 Giving Gala which will be held on February 26, 2021 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. So save the date and get ready for an elegant evening of fun, fellowship and philanthropy
