Sen. Patrick Joyce (D-Essex) congratulated 192 high school students from the 40th District who had earned the title of 2021-22 Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).
The students named State Scholars are in the top 10% of high schoolers and were selected based on their standardized test performance and class rank or unweighted grade point average.
"I am thrilled to recognize and congratulate these students from our community for this well-deserved honor," Joyce said in an April 27 Facebook post. "This group of scholars is incredibly inspiring, as they have persisted through unprecedented changes in learning. I’m so proud of their commitment and dedication."
ISAC collaborated with the school guidance counselors from the state’s 692 schools to ensure that only the best students were selected.
Students from the 40th district that received the special recognition were from Bishop McNamara, Bradley Bourbonnais Community, Coal City, Flossmoor, Herscher, Kankakee, Marian Catholic, Momence, Rich East, Peotone, South Wilmington and St. Anne high schools.
Students will receive a letter from ISAC praising them for their achievement and a Certificate of Achievement being sent to their high school. The award winners can use the information to share with prospective colleges and employers via social media and online profiles.
