The Village of Braceville has received a grant to facilitate improvements for its stormwater drainage systems, according to a press release.
The Illinois Department of Business and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced that it has selected the Village of Braceville to receive the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for town stormwater improvements in the eastern part of the city.
"This grant helps the village continue to move forward with public infrastructure improvements," Sen. Patrick Joyce (D-Essex) said in a Facebook post, "I applaud village officials on being proactive in applying for state funding opportunities, and I look forward to seeing this project develop."
The $454,165 grant was secured by Joyce as a means to facilitate infrastructure improvements for the village.
Specifically, it is designed to help low- to middle-income communities make improvements toward removing conditions that adversely affect public health and safety.
Joyce, who believes this boost in funding will bring a "welcome change to the community," advocated on behalf of the village at the state level to help Braceville secure funding.
