Nick Semaca, Joliet Slammers gave a presentation overviewing the 2020 season. He discussed changes made as a result of COVID restrictions, including benefits to local businesses, the disappointing attendance, and revenue loss. He also discussed additional changes for 2021.
Mr. Semaca asked for a lease modification moving from a fixed rent to a variable rent; and asked for a 6% of total revenue.
A lengthy discussion was held regarding the proposal for the lease amendment, COVID relief, and multi-uses for the stadium.

Councilman Hug began a brief discussion regarding the possibility of restricting traffic from this office building directly onto Route 53. As a result of the discussion, Councilman Hug made a motion for this item to be tabled.

The motion failed by the following votes:
AYE: Councilwoman Reardon, Councilman Hug, Councilman Lande, Councilwoman Quillman.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding this development and the lack of notification to Timber Ridge residents concerning the project.

Further discussion was held regarding the developer being required to contact the residents concerning this project; therefore, the motion was amended.

CITY MANAGER:
City Manager Jim Capparelli discussed information provided to the City Council regarding the way the City will be doing business going forward. He asked for the Mayor's and Council's feedback.
NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation):
Councilman Mudron spoke regarding a request for more information from Southland Water Agency and requested to postpone the vote.
Mayor O'Dekirk asked Fire Chief Blaskey and Deputy Chief Carey to discuss the COVID vaccine implementation. Fire Chief Blaskey stated the Fire Department is offering their assistance to help the County move forward with their vaccination process. A lengthy discussion was held regarding the available of the vaccine, symptoms, shelf life after thawing, and City's staff inability to get additional information concerning the vaccines. Mayor O'Dekirk officially requesting the county contact the City tomorrow regarding COVID vaccination plans.
Mayor O'Dekirk briefly discussed the State's passage of a law enforcement bill and a related item on the City of Naperville agenda.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Councilwoman Gavin discussed the new leadership at the Joliet Police Department and thanked the outgoing Joliet Police Department leadership for their service.
Mayor and Council gave accolades to Jim Trizna, Director of Public Works, on his retirement.
Mr. Trizna discussed his background and career with the City. He thanked the residents, Mayor and Council for his opportunity to serve the City of Joliet.
