City of Joliet Water Conservation Committee met Sept. 2.

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ON AGENDA ITEMS

DISCUSSION: REBATE PROGRAMS UPDATE
Amy Ferris, Deputy Director of Engineering, discussed that 123 subsidized rain barrel have been sold in 2020 leaving 27 remaining. Ten toilet rebates have also been issued for 2020 and there are 10 remaining available.
DISCUSSION: ORDINANCE REVISIONS UPDATE
Amy Ferris discussed the update of ordinance revisions for water and sewer.
DISCUSSION: RESTAURANT INITIATIVE
Amy Ferris stated there was no new information regarding the initiative. Maria Ana Rafac brought up comments made by Councilwoman Quillman and discussed. We are working on a follow up survey to resurvey the 48 (of 400) businesses that would be willing to participate going forward.
DISCUSSION: COMMUNITY WATER CONSERVATION EFFORTS - PRACTICAL PLUMBING HANDBOOK
Amy Ferris discussed that the handbook has shipped today. Jeff Freeman, of EEI, discussed about an upcoming meeting next week by Southwest Planning Group. Also discussed were ideas for a virtual event.
DISCUSSION: EDUCATION EFFORTS FOR AREA SCHOOLS - UPDATE
Maria Ana Rafac discussed that due to Covid rules we are going to postpone these efforts at this time.
