Channahon Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 28.
In an effort to support local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village of Channahon is putting a twist on our annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest.
In addition to opening this year’s contest to public voting, the Village has also modified the prizes: instead of monetary prizes for the top three winners, the Mayor and the Board of Trustees have chosen to award $3,000 in gift certificates to local Channahon businesses among the top six winners.
“This year has been undoubtedly challenging for all of us, but it has put an added strain on our local businesses. While the monetary prizes have been fun to award our Holiday Home Decorating Contest winners in the past, we know that this year’s prizes will have a direct impact on Channahon businesses. It’s a simple and effective way for us to join efforts with our residents in safely spreading the joy of the holiday season by involving them in deciding the winners, while also supporting these vital businesses in our community. We’re encouraging all of our residents to shop local and shop small this holiday season - when our businesses thrive, our community thrives.”
Registration to submit your house opens today, and public voting will take place December 10-14. Click here (link) for more details, including rules and instructions, and to register your home!
