City of Crest Hill issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.
The Crest Hill Police was approved for a traffic safety grant provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation earlier this year and will be participating in a statewide traffic enforcement effort from October 17-November2, 2020. The focus of our effort is occupant protection. We want to remind everyone to buckle up and make sure children are placed in approved child protection seats.
We also want to remind everyone to always drive sober. Halloween has traditionally been a time of celebration, but the party should not include drinking and driving. If you are going to drive, do not drink. If you are hosting a party, make sure your guests have a safe ride home.
Please be aware of children while driving on Halloween. Children will be excited to be out and trick or treating. Let us reduce our speed and be on the lookout for children and pedestrians. We all can do our part to have a safe Halloween on our streets and roadways.
