Romeoville FD responds to 53 fires in 2018

Romeoville Fire District responded to 770 calls in 2018 - 21.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Romeoville included 53 fires - 23 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 24 other fires.

In all, the department saw $298,525 in fire loss - or about $5,633 per fire.

The department also received 717 false calls, including 15 malicious calls and 702 other false calls.

The Romeoville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 19 active employees and nine retired or inactive employees, was $254,770 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,640 for every fire in 2017.
