38 percent of applicants to Governors State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Governors State University, 51 percent of undergraduate students are nontraditional students - age 25 or older - and 62 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in University Park enrolled 4,857 students in fall 2018, including 3,262 in undergraduate and 1,595 in graduate programs, data shows. 24.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

99 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 1 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (39 percent) and white (30 percent).

The school admitted 38 percent of the 1,507 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 35 percent enrolled.
