City of Lockport issued the following announcement on April 9.
Our #2020Census is happening now. Over 60% have responded, but we need everyone’s help to “Make Lockport (IL) Count!”
Understandably it’s a crazy season, so there’s “no shame in your local civilian game” if you haven’t completed it yet, but can we share some GOOD NEWS with you?
1. There’s still time to “self-respond” by phone, mail, or online before enumerators come out to the general public (scheduled for the end of the month).
2. For the first time ever! in U.S. history, you can respond with your unique code online that was provided to you in one of the two official pieces of mail from the U.S. Census Bureau at https://my2020census.gov.
3. The City of Lockport is an official partner of the Chicago Regional Office and through the formation of a Complete Count Committee.
4. The #USCensusBureau has taken many steps to keep your data, especially through online responses secure. You can read more about how they care about protecting your data here: https://2020census.gov/en/data-protection.html
5. The US Postal Service has been working hard through these tough times to get these official pieces of mail to you.
6. Finally, the City hopes to serve you well by answering any questions you may have. In a time like this, we are adopting the “we over me” attitude with all hands (and resources) on deck. If you have questions about the Census, please reach out to us in one of the following ways:
: communications@lockport.org
: direct message @cityoflockport
: (815) 838-0549 (M-F from 8-4:30)
: submit a service service request for information: http://cityoflockport.net/213/Submit-a-Service-Request
We will make every effort to respond to your specific question regarding the national census. It is our hope out of love for the Lockport community to continue provide essential services and serve you well.
