City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on Feb. 17.
The Wilmington Chamber's employee of the month trophy was presented to Pam Monson, (right) editor of The Free Press Advocate. She accepts the trophy from Chamber Ambassador Cindy Rose of Crafter's Gallery. Monson was nominated by the public with a note that "her readers appreciate her insight and knowledge of the community every week. She is thorough in her reporting and is an asset to our community. Monson started in the newspaper's front office in 1992. She started covering Wilmington governments, events and people in 1994, and was named editor of the newspaper in 1999. What she likes best about her job are the constant opportunities to learn something new, to meet new people and to watch the community adapt as events and actions impact it.
