July-Dec. 2018 Recap: Parolees in Joliet convicted of financial crimes or fraud

There were 12 offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud released on parole in Joliet during the second half of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows that 10 men and two women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 39. The youngest parolee was a 28-year-old man sentenced in 2016, and the oldest was a 49-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Brian Carey. He was convicted of a financial crime or fraud in 2017 when he was 34 years old. He is now 36.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders during the second half of 2018 who were convicted of financial crimes or fraud.
