The data shows that three men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 39. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 54-year-old man sentenced in 2011.
The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Bessie Rowlen. She was convicted of homicide in 1990 when she was 24 years old. She is now 52.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
