City of Crest Hill issued the following announcement on April 15.
Once again, Crest Hill residents can rest assured their tax dollars are being managed properly and efficiently. For the fourth straight year, the City of Crest Hill was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The award is presented to Crest Hill's Finance Supervisor Ashli Motyka who along with the City’s elected officials and staff that are primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and as such deserve the recognition. The GFOA insures that the CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel of peers and that it meets the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "Spirit of Full Disclosure" clearly communicating the City’s financial story. The format and depth of detail are designed to motivate citizens to read the CAFR and better understand the resources being utilized in providing essential municipal services.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D.C. Details of recent recipients of the Certificate of Achievement and other information about Certificate Program results are available in the "Awards Program" section of the GFOA website.
