The price of local government in 2017: Village of New Lenox

The Village of New Lenox budget was $90.33 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's an increase of 6.3 percent from 2016, when the village spent $84.98 million.

New Lenox has a population of 27,152.

Since 2001, the Village of New Lenox budget has grown by 159 percent, from $34.88 million. The village population has grown 52.8 percent over the same period, from 17,771.

Salaries accounted for 10.9 percent of village spending in 2017. New Lenox property taxpayers paid $9.86 million for 105 full-time employees and eight part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 82 full-time employees and nine part-time employees, and spent $5.50 million.
