Although GOP House candidate Rick Laib said it was too soon for him to react fully to Tuesday night’s loss to incumbent state Rep. Larry Walsh Jr. (D-Joliet) in the 86th District, he said he has no regrets about his campaign.
“I don’t think I’d do anything differently,” Laib told Will County Gazette. “I’m proud of the way we went forward.”
Laib captured 29 percent of the vote Tuesday to Walsh’s 71 percent, according to NBC-5 Chicago. That translates to approximately 20,000 votes for Walsh versus just over 8,000 for Laib.

Democrat J.B. Pritzker took the governor’s race Tuesday. Laib predicted that Prtizker's pledge for a progressive tax hike is what’s coming next for the state.
"Well, that’s what he promised, so that's what we’re going to get," Laib said. "That’s what's coming, so I guess that’s what they’re all wanting."
Laib said it would be business as usual for him, now that the campaign is over.
“I’ll just re-enter my life and revisit the things I sacrificed to (run for office),” he said. “I don’t think I’ve set my clocks back in my house from last weekend yet, so I have a lot of different things to catch up on.”
