The district transferred 28 students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.
According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 2,066 students during the year. That equates to 7.5 percent of the 27,461 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for three incidents with drugs, two incidents with unspecified reasons and one incident with violence without physical injury.
Of the 1,457 in-school suspensions, 1,102 were given to boys and 355 were given to girls, including 570 elementary or middle schoolers and 887 high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 1,436 incidents. There were 10 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 1,235 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 603 out-of-school suspensions, 483 were given to boys and 120 were given to girls, including 209 elementary or middle schoolers and 394 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 533 incidents. There were 29 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 299 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
