Lisa Bickus thinks Springfield can use more of a common touch.

“As the mother of four and a wife, I know how important it is to balance a budget and live within our means,” said Bickus, now running against Rep. John Connor (D-Lockport) in the 85th District House race in November’s general election. “On the Lockport Township board, it has been my mission to provide every student with a quality education to assure tax dollars are spent effectively and responsibly. As CEO of a nonprofit organization, I have been able to bring people together, reduce overhead and provide top-level service to those in need. As your representative, I will be an independent leader and push for the reforms we need to get Illinois back on track.”

Bickus is on record with her assertion that the state’s rising tax levels are not only crippling families in the here and now, but also ensuring that the next generation will be on the hook for massive amounts of debt for the foreseeable future.

“Illinois is my home; it’s been heart-wrenching to see the state go down the wrong path,” she said. “Every year we pay more in taxes; and in return, we get nothing but gridlock and crisis.”

In the end, Bickus said the state is in desperate need of major change in Springfield.

“Career politicians care more about their political futures than they do about the future of the next generation," she said. "We can fix our state, but it is going to take new vision and new leadership to get it done.”
