Report: Union spent $28,340 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Union School District 81 is up 42 percent from five years ago, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Will County school district spent $19,979 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $28,340 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 114 to 104.

Union's spending in 2016-17 was 118 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
